about brendan
Brendan came into this world on April 6, 1981 and left this world tragically and suddenly on April 20, 2005. He was raised in Colchester, Connecticut by his parents, Bruce and Louanne Romaneck, along with his only sibling, Melissa. Brendan's love for music came at a very young age. His first experience with learning a musical instrument was in the 4th grade when he learned the recorder. In 5th grade, he chose the tenor sax and stayed with the tenor sax through high school graduation with a variation now and then to the alto. Brendan had a great admiration and respect for all of his music teachers and especially his high school band director, Thomas Kessler, who gave him the encouragement and support he needed to take his musical knowledge and skills the next level. Brendan continued his education after high school to Santa Barbara City College and then transferred to the University of North Florida-Jacksonville, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Music, specializing in Jazz Studies, on April 30, 2004. Once again, Brendan was blessed with great mentors during his tenure at UNF--his Professors, Keith Javors and Bunky Green, both of whom took Brendan under their wings. In Brendan, they saw that he had something special and they helped to bring out the inner-hidden musical qualities and skills that Brendan had yet to discover in himself. They gave him a confidence that helped him to make his decision to further his education, with his ultimate goal of becoming a University Professor of Jazz Music. Just two weeks before Brendan's passing he was notified by the Univ. of Tennessee-Knoxville that he had been accepted into the Teacher's Assistantship program with the Music Department. Brendan also had a love for music composition, starting in his Junior year of high school and he was scheduled to record his first professional CD titled: "Coming Together", in June of 2005. It is assumed that the title Brendan chose for his CD was a symbol of how he felt things were going in his life...after all of his hard work, things were finally "Coming Together. A little ironic if you think about the end result. With the help of Brendan's closest friends, including Dr. Keith Javors, Brian Menendez and Jason Miller, professional jazz musicians were hired (Chris Potter on sax, Steve Wilson on sax, Terell Stafford on trumpet, Delbert Felix on Bass, John Davis on drums and Keith Javors on piano) and the recording of Brendan's music took place as scheduled as a Tribute CD in Brendan's memory. The release of this Tribute CD is pending. Above his love for music, was the love Brendan had for his family and his friends. He was always smiling and loved to make people laugh. He would do anything for a friend in need and he cherished every minute he spent with his family. Brendan touched the hearts of countless people in the short time he was here on earth...He Will Always Live On In Our Hearts!!! (Louanne Romaneck, Mother)
